Blended post-mentoring assessment confirming competence for DIST 16 duties. Includes knowledge check, evidence review, and a professional discussion (Zoom/Teams/Phone).

⚙️ Course Details

  • Internal Level: Level 4 — mentoring/portfolio + viva style assessment.
  • Mode: Blended (self-study + evidence upload + professional discussion)
  • Prerequisites: Completed mentoring period for DIST 16; suitable workplace exposure; valid Sentinel profile as applicable, Valid electrical first aid.
  • Assessment Components: Knowledge check ≥80% (must-pass), verified evidence uploads, professional discussion with assessor, identity & sponsorship checks.
  • Outcome: Competence confirmed/declined with feedback and next steps. Certificate issued on pass.

(Level/GLH per Richardson Training internal grading; course delivery follows applicable standards and accepted practice.)

🧰 Before You Start — What you’ll need

  • Mentoring logs/records (dates, tasks, locations, supervision/mentor sign-off).
  • Workplace evidence with sensitive data redacted if required.
  • Photo ID and current sponsor details for verification.
  • In date First Aid for Electrical Accidents, that is accepted by our policy & aligns to Network Rails CTM Standards.
  • Quiet space and stable internet for the professional discussion.

  3. Upload your mentoring logs and workplace evidence for review.
  4. Book your professional discussion slot (Zoom/Teams/Phone).
  5. Attend the discussion; answer technical/experience questions.
  6. Outcome recorded; on pass, competence is awarded and certificate issued.

Submit mentoring logs and any workplace evidence you might have. Your assessor will review and approve before the discussion is held.

What good evidence looks like
  • Clear linkage to DIST 16 tasks; dates and locations shown.
  • Mentor/supervisor sign-off or traceable corroboration.
  • Risk-based decisions and safe systems of work explained where relevant.
  • Personal/sensitive data redacted where necessary.

📅 Step 3 — Book Your Professional Discussion

Contact us via email or phone, to get your date agreed and booked in. We may need to reschedule if evidence is incomplete. You must do this, without this being booked, you can not complete the assessment.

🧾 Assessment & Award

  • Must-pass: Knowledge check ≥80%, sufficient and authentic evidence, satisfactory professional discussion.
  • If More Evidence Needed: You’ll receive clear feedback and a resubmission route.
  • Certification: Issued on pass; records updated. Sponsors are notified as applicable. Sentinel system updated as needed.
